eTeddys by Alison McKee
The artist behind eTeddys
My name is Alison McKee, a native Phoenician. I'm married to a wonderful man and we have 2 children (ages 8 & 10) who hug test all of the bears and help name some too. My mom taught me to sew when I was very young. I can remember making a flannel night gown to enter in a girl scout fair. I think I was in the 3rd grade. I don't remember if I won a ribbon or not, but I've been sewing ever since. All of my bears are designed and sewn completely by me. I hope you enjoy them!
How eTeddys got started
I started making bears just weeks after receiving a kidney transplant. After being sick I felt like making something special for my children and others who had helped me out. My surgery was on November 11, and by Christmas I had made 5 floppy bears out of an old chenille blanket. That new kidney (given to me by my mom) made me feel so much better that I was able to get them all done in time for Christmas gifts. That's what started it all!
Each eTeddy is handcrafted by me from the designing of the pattern to the finishing touches. I make all of my eTeddys with the finest German mohair, threads and eyes. I purchase premium components for the joints and each seam is sewn twice so you have a beautiful heirloom that will last many lifetimes.
